Sex & Stuff

You probably don’t need us to tell you that having cancer affects all aspects of your life—and that there is a lot to learn about cancer and your treatment options.  Fortunately, there are a lot of people here at CHOC Children’s who you can talk to. But what about your questions about sex after a cancer diagnosis?

Some teens and young adults don’t feel comfortable bringing up this topic. So we are doing it for you.

The door is open. We are here to help.

Our answers here are based on the best evidence we have from medical research and our experience with patients.  They are meant as a guideline only.

We hope this information opens the door for a more comfortable conversation between you and your healthcare team if you have questions or need more information. Please be assured that we are just fine talking with patients about sex, and you can talk privately with one of us to ask questions at any time.

We will keep your concerns and private information confidential.
